FREEDOM OF INFORMATION

The Freedom of Information Act 2000  gives the public the right to see information held by a wide range of public bodies, including your local councils. These bodies have to prepare a document detailing what categories of information they keep, and how members of the public can get hold of the information they want. This document is called a Publication Scheme.

Straight and narrow path

 

Canwick's Publication Scheme was first drafted in 2002 and has been approved by the Information Commissioner, who is responsible for ensuring the Act is put into practice correctly. It lists the various kinds of information held, and explains the procedures for access under the Act. The law requires the Council to keep the Publication Scheme updated, and you can read the latest version by clicking on the link below.
