ACCESSIBILITY

"The power of the Web is in its universality. Access by everyone regardless of disability is an essential aspect."

Sir Tim Berners-Lee, W3C Director and inventor of the World Wide Web

Canwick Parish Council is determined to make this web site as accessible as possible to people with disabilities, including the blind and partially sighted.

We have tried to design the site from the outset in accordance with the accessibility guidelines laid down by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). The site is optimised for Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 and above at a resolution of 1024 X 768, but you should be able to view us on the other major browsers. Please note that whilst Firefox and Opera do not display a picture's "Alt Text" caption,  the caption is still embedded for the special software used by those with restricted vision. The Alt Text can be read in these browsers when images are disabled.

For your convenience most internal links are set to open in a new window. These are not really "pop-ups", but some internet browsers think they are. If you use a pop-up blocker (either Internet Explorer's or another) please add www.canwick.org to the list of allowed sites. This will not compromise your security.

If you are a disabled user and have any accessibility problems with this site, we'd like to hear from you - please contact our webmaster.
