What is a Parish Plan? A Parish Plan is a statement of how a community sees itself and how it wants to develop over the next decade or so. It includes the things which are relevant to the people who live here, and reflects their concerns and aspirations - not a set list of topics imposed from outside. How is it done? The project has involved almost everyone in the parish in one way or another. A detailed survey went out to every household, and over 80% returned a completed form. Then further research (with individuals and small groups of parishioners) was carried out to drill deeper into what people liked and disliked, and what they wanted for their community in the future. Whilst these findings were being distilled into a report, a detailed survey of the village was made to produce a Village Design Statement to help us plan future development. The last stage has been to take the range of issues which are of real concern to residents and build them into an Action Plan which will be adopted by the Parish Council to take forward. Add in a fascinating summary of the long history of Canwick and you have The Canwick Parish Plan. So it's all over? Yes - at last! The Plan was formally adopted by the Parish Council at its November 2011 meeting. Arrangements will be made to distribute the Plan to all parishioners as well as to relevant organisations. The last section is called the Action Plan. This is a separate 'living' document, which stands as an action list derived from what the residents want and which will form a guide to the Parish Council. The Council will undertake the various tasks it sets out, and review progress on a regular basis.
